AYRSHIRE FOOTBALL LEAGUE
The first meeting of the newly-formed Ayrshire Football League has held on Saturday (2 July 1892) at Irvine. According to the first article in the constitution, the league is to consist of twelve clubs. It was stated that Ayr Club, having considered the rules, declined to join and it was, after discussion, resolved to ask Kilbirnie, Mauchline and Dalry Clubs to ballot for the vacant place. Mr Andrews, Monkcastle, was elected president; Mr Alexander Dunn, Kilmarnock Athletic, vice-president; Mr Muir, Newmilns, treasurer and Mr R M Yuille, Irvine, secretary. It was agreed to add a rule to the effect that referees on the official list shall not be eligible for election as members of committee.
