As in 1883, there were no match reports on Ardrossan Clydesdale Football Club in 1884 yet it held its fourth annual reunion. A new club, Ardrossan White Star was founded. Ardrossan Ensign games were reported on for the first time since 1879 and Ardrossan Rangers games for the first time since 1880.

CLYDESDALE FOOTBALL CLUB REUNION
The fourth annual reunion of the members and friends of this club was held in the Eglinton Arms Hotel, Ardrossan (shown right in the early 1960s) on Friday last (11 January 1884). There were twenty-five couples present and a very enjoyable evening was spent, dancing being kept up till an early hour in the morning.

COLLECTING FOR A FOOTBALL
Last week, both in Ardrossan and Saltcoats, the small boys were doing the round of the town getting up a few coppers to buy a football. We like to encourage the young shavers in their whims. Such exercise in mere youths is commendable and it keeps them from brawling in the streets. They are not the sort to hurt each other.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR - CORRECTION
Sir
In your issue of last Saturday, you took notice of a football match between the clubs Ardrossan Ensign and Saltcoats Victoria in which it was stated that the match resulted in a draw, two goals each. Now in fairness to the "young un's", the report should have read Victoria 2 - Ensign 1 as this was the actual result of the match and which statement umpires and onlookers can verify. Trusting you will find room for this in your next issue and so give honour to whom honour is due and oblige.

There is probably a mistake in the opening line of the letter 'In your issue of last Saturday'. Up to Saturday 30 December 1882, Heralds were published on Saturdays and from Friday 5 January 1883 on Fridays.
