ARDROSSAN SEAFIELD 4 - STEWARTON CUNNINGHAME 6
The Seafield played their opening match on Saturday last (27 August 1881)
at Clutha Park, Ardrossan with the Stewarton
Cunninghame. The Seafield won the toss and elected to play downhill with
the wind. About twenty minutes after the kick-off, the Seafield scored
their first goal within twenty minutes from the start followed by another two
in quick succession. This seemed to put Stewarton on their mettle for they scored
four goals before half time was called, being one ahead of the home team. In
the second half, there was some good passing play on both sides, the ball travelling
from end to end very speedily. About twenty minutes from the start, the Cunninghame
by a run on the right wing scored number five and shortly after number six.
On the kick-off, the Seafield determined to score, Flinn scoring their
last goal by a long shot on the right wing. Nothing of any note occurred after
this, the game ending in favour of the Cunninghame by six goals to four.

ARDROSSAN SEAFIELD 9 - GLASGOW MARCHTOWN 2
This game was played
on the ground of the former,
Clutha Park.
Ardrossan having won the toss the Glasgow men kicked off. In
the first half, which was altogether in favour of the home team,
Seafield registered no less than seven goals, while the strangers
failed to score. During the
second half play was more evenly balanced, the Glasgow team scoring a couple of
goals, and Seafield a similar number. The
game thus ended in favour of Ardrossan by nine goals to two.

CROSSHOUSE 0 - ARDROSSAN SEAFIELD 0
A friendly game was played on the ground of the former between the above teams
on Saturday last (24 September 1881). The weather was most unpropituous for
outdoor recreation, the rain which fell during the day reducing the field to a
most deplorable condition and rendering it so slippy that to keep equilibrium
was a matter of great difficulty. The game was evenly-contested and the play was
really amusing owing to the large pools of water which lay around the upper
goal. In these moats, the players frantically struggled, splashing and plunging
like porpoises and blinding each other with water.
