ARDROSSAN
WHITE STAR FOOTBALL CLUB 1884-93
The Ardrossan and Saltcoats Heralds of 11 and 18 April 1884 carried the reports
below.
SALTCOATS ALMA 1 - ARDROSSAN
WHITE STAR 1
These teams met on the ground of the former on Saturday last (5 April 1884)
and, after a hard and well-contested game, resulted in a draw, one goal each.
ARDROSSAN WHITE STAR 4
- ARDROSSAN RANGERS 1
These teams met on Saturday last (12 April 1884) to play a friendly game at
football which resulted in a victory for the White Star by four goals to one.
Ardrossan White Star was apparently
founded in 1884 and played only two reported games that year.
White Star was not found in any documents until the Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald
of 3 March 1893 carried the report below.
ARDROSSAN BOYS' BRIGADE 5 - ARDROSSAN WHITE STAR 2
A match between the Ardrossan Boys' Brigade and a team from the Ardrossan
Academy, named the White Star, was played at Ardrossan last Saturday (25 February
1893) and ended in a win for the Brigade youths by five goals to two.
It is uncertain if the two White Star teams were linked and if the first one had
a connection to Ardrossan Academy.
